A Seat 600 in the reception area? Really? Well, yes. We take seriously our plan of making a hotel inspired in the sixties the best location in Barcelona, and to prove a point we are placing an original Seat 600 in the reception area to welcome our guests. And, yes... just wait and see how incredibly cool it will look; you'll even want one for yourself. We are just three weeks away from chic&basic Ramblas opening its doors in style. After much work and effort, the countdown has begun. We are saying goodbye to the old and esteemed Gutenberg hotel in Barcelona and we are ready to receive the new chic&basic Rambles, which is just arriving. You can imagine...if its near the Ramblas, there's plenty of atmosphere. But, it's much more than that. It will be spectacular. We are very excited, and we would like to share it with all of you...
So, for now, we are letting you know that "we are almost ready", and when everything is all set, we will tell you so we can enjoy it together.
chic&basic continues promoting the art and culture of our cities. This time, will be chic&basic Born in collaboration with Togs Art Barcelona –an agency with the purpose of representing and promoting artists by alternative means – , who will open a window to let you experience art differently.
This initiative starts on May 31st at 6pm with an opening party for the piece of art created by the artist “labuena ylamala” awarded to be placed in the chic&basic Borns patio from June through September 2012, although, this exciting project will keep on surprising you with new suggestions.
As a complement of the opening party, there will be an exposition with a selection of pieces of art from exceptional artists such as Albert Ruiz, Marco Noris y Simone Branchini all of them promoted by Togs Art Barcelona. As a complement of this event, the artists Tomoyuki Furuta and Carolina will set up their own live music combination with everyday and natural sounds.
We invite you to assist the opening party and inform you that the entrance is free for everyone who wants to come and share a good time with nice and artistic people and, of course, have a few cold beers with us.
Our hotel chic&basic Mayerling, located in the historic centre of Madrid, will host the first edition of a different event with name Room Art Fair. It is going to be a cultural and social meeting point for art galleries, artists, collectors, visitors and friends.
Room Art Fair takes place this weekend 16-18 December .

How can we explain our happiness at having received the award for Best Corporate Image in the hotel industry without being guilty of false modesty? Well... just like that.
This month we receive the Hostelco Award for Best Corporate Identity, and we are jumping to joy. It is an award which acknowledges the whole chic&basic team for their hard work over the last few years. As well as espluga+associates (our communication agency) who have worked with us on a number of projects. But above all it is your award, for having supported us on our shared journey. Without you none of this would have been possible. Our thanks go out to all of you, and we hope to have the chance to carry on doing what we like best and being rewarded for it.

One designer per room = a hotel full of fashion.
On 19 June, from 11 am to 9 pm, chic&basic Born will host one of the leading events in the Barcelona fashion calendar: the changing room. Twenty-five rooms will play host to 25 national and international designers, who will present their latest creations. Many different styles, a lot of freshness and the desire to have a good time as the hotel becomes fashion HQ for a day. Come and enjoy the DJs, the party and all the beautiful people, for plenty of photo opportunities. See you there!
The first competition to test the creativity of our chic&basic Community was a complete success. Our Facebook fans put pen to paper and wrote the text for the first Limited Edition of our famous chic&basic soap.
With over 50 participants from around the word, the quality of the designs was excellent. The jury, made up of chic&basic and our communication and design agency, esplugas+diseño (facebook.com/esplugaassociates), had its work cut out for it: to select three finalists to be voted by all the Facebook fans of chic&basic.
The winner, by popular vote, was “Glad to see you naked", by Stéphane Cornet.
Congratulations Stéphane! Your creation will soon be printed on one of our soaps, and you will have the chance to enjoy your prize: two nights at any of our hotels.
